Q: How much does it cost? What are your fees?
The cost and fees are dependent upon the amount of work we have to do. We are flexible in working with you to determine your needs.
Q: How long does the cleanout process take?
Typically it takes 2-3 days for a condo and 3-4 days for a home, unless there is a large accumulation of debris and clutter. We store clients’ possessions in a controlled, secured storage facility adjacent to our offices. The sales process takes several months to complete.
Q: Are you environmentally conscious?
The nature of our business is that we recycle items to someone else that can make use of them, or will enjoy them. We dispose of hazardous material in an ecologically sound manner. Last year, our recycling efforts kept more than 200 tons of material out of the landfill.
Q: What do you do with personal papers and documents, or if you find money?
We look for important financial, legal and personal documents and return them to the client. We shred documents that may contain sensitive or personal information. We return cash, securities or negotiable items to the client.
Q: Are you limited to the Chicago area?
Our sales territory extends north to Wisconsin, South to central Illinois and Indiana, east to Michigan and west to Iowa and Missouri. On occasion we have been asked to assist clients in other cities and states.
Q: How do you handle a hoarder situation?
We always have a principal on site that can identify and segregate items of value. We take the necessary steps to protect our employees against hazardous or dangerous situations. If necessary, based on the situation, we use protective clothing and respirators.
Please see our Services/Estate Liquidation section on Hoarders. Please call our office to discuss the particulars of this situation.
Q: How much is it worth, can you give me an estimate, can you make it low or high?
Value depends on rarity, condition and current market conditions. An estimate, whether provided verbally or in written form is considered to be an appraisal. We need to see and inspect the item to observe its condition in order to determine its value. The value also depends upon the type of appraisal needed. Our professional ethics require us to report an objective value that is based on the appropriate market and the purpose of the appraisal.
